Casting is complete for the Atlantic Theater Company’s previously announced world premiere of Gabe McKinley's CQ/CX. Directed by David Leveaux, performances begin January 25 at off-Broadway's Signature Theatre Company's Peter Norton Space, with opening night set for February 15. The limited engagement runs through March 4.
The cast will feature Tony nominee Larry Bryggman (Proof) as Frank King, Peter Jay Fernandez (The Merchant of Venice) as Gerald Haynes, Tim Hopper (Almost an Evening) as Ben, Arliss Howard (Joe Turner's Come and Gone) as Hal Martin, Kobi Libii (The Tempest) as Jay Bennett, two-time Tony nominee David Pittu (Is He Dead?) as Junior, Steve Rosen (Guys and Dolls) as Jacob Sherman and Sheila Tapia (ReEntry) as Monica Soria.
Inspired by McKinely's own experience as a journalist, CQ/CX tells the story of Jay, an up and coming black reporter at The New York Times, who finds his dreams of becoming a famous journalist crashing down as he becomes the center of a plagiarism scandal.
CQ/CX will feature scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Jess Goldstein, lighting design by Ben Stanton, original music and sound design by David van Tieghem and projection design by Peter Nigrini and C. Andrew Bauer.
